1. Confirm Customer Eligibility

  1. Customer must reside in Texas and receive electric service from El Paso Electric
  2. Single Family Homes (1-4 units)
  3. Multifamily Homes (more than 4 units) - Must be individually metered
  4. For Income Qualified incentives, customer must meet Low Income requirements and provide Income Eligibility form and supporting documentation

2. To Qualify Energy Star® Smart Thermostats

  1. Thermostat must be connected to a refrigerated air conditioner with a cooling capacity of less than 65,000 Btu/hour (5.4 tons)
  2. Only Smart Thermostats listed at ENERGY STAR Certified Smart Thermostats are eligible (https://www.energystar.gov/productfinder/product/certified-connected-thermostats)

3. Complete Rebate Application

  1. Select project type, cooling type heating type and water heating type.
  2. Indicate Manufacturer, Condenser Model #,Evaporator Coil Model # and AHRI Reference # (www.ahridirectory.org)

4. Submit Required Documentation for Payment of Each Project

    1. Must submit within 45 days of installation:
  1. Rebate Application
  2. Copy of receipt or invoice

5. Quality Control/Quality Assurance

  1. Visit NREL Standard Work Specifications at https://sws.nrel.gov for guidelines to ensure quality installations based on national best practices.
